MicroCap Equity Portfolios
Microcap equity is Perritt Capital Management's primary institutional strategy. The firm's investment philosophy has been built on the research of Rolf Banz, a University of Chicago doctoral student who discovered the first crack in the foundation of the efficient market theory, dubbed "the small firm effect" (Journal of Financial Economics, vol. 9(1), pages 3-18, March, 1981). The "small firm effect" is the tendency of common stocks of small companies to outperform the stocks of large companies at equivalent levels of risk.
Perritt Capital Management has an established infrastructure and staff capable of managing institutional level accounts. The firm has served as the advisor to The Perritt MicroCap Opportunities Fund (an Investment Company Act of 1940 registered mutual fund) for more than twenty years. As a result, firm qualifications include:
- In-house compliance staff (the firm's current CCO has been in the investment industry for more than twenty years).
- A client service team (more than thirty years combined experience) that provides superior service to other institutional investors.
- A back office staff (led by an individual with more than 13 years of experience in the mutual fund industry) that has proven successful at back office duties for a Registered Investment Company.
